Inspiring Growth

We are pleased to offer both private and group Music Therapy programs at The Music Studio.

Music Therapy is a practice in which a credentialed professional uses music to intentionally facilitate and support the growth, well being and development of an individual. A therapeutic relationship is initially established to develop trust between the client and therapist. After this rapport is built, specific needs – that fall under emotional, spiritual, cognitive, social and musical domains – can be met. Music Therapy strives to address personal goals in a humanistic and client-centered manner. Whether used for personal coping, regulation, relaxation, expression, or learning, music can be a useful tool that individuals can refer to for the rest of their lives!

Music Therapy can be beneficial for people of all ages and abilities! It is offered in group or individual settings and will address a number of diverse goals. Activities can include but are not limited to:

  • Instrumental Exploration
  • Musical Improvisation
  • Musical listening
  • Songwriting
  • Lyric Analysis
  • Movement within the music

Each activity is designed specifically to meet the group or individual needs, to facilitate growth, expression and development. During the initial sessions, the therapist will conduct an assessment to outline the personal goals and objectives for the client(s). As sessions progress, changes will be documented and shared with the client and their respective relations. Flexibility, which caters to the spontaneity of the experience, is a key aspect of this practice. Music therapy is unique to the participant or group, and can help prepare an individual for long term success!
