M&P HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICIES
- The health of our students, families and faculty is very important to us. To continue to do our part to protect our community, M&P is committed to meeting and enforcing all relevant health and safety guidelines established by Civic, Provincial, National and International Health Authorities. All students and visitors will be asked to adhere to these policies and should not visit the Studios for In-Studio Lessons if they are sick.
- M&P is a nut free environment.
LESSON LENGTH
The recommended (minimum) lesson length is:
– 30-minutes for Beginner through Grade 3 (Conservatory playing level)
– 45-minutes for Grade 4 (and above) students
– 60 minutes for Senior students
PRIVATE LESSON ABSENCES
- We know life is unpredictable. While the issue of absences and make-ups is one of the contentious in the music education, we continue to do our best to accommodate our families, AND we are pleased to be one of the only studios to offer makeup lesson options.
- Sickness Day-Of: Should a student find they are unable to attend their in-studio lesson due to our health guidelines, an online lesson will be available to the student on their regularly scheduled lesson day and time, provided that the student has provided the studio with notice of such intent prior to 12:00 noon on the day of their lesson.
- Regular Makeup Policies: Our regular makeup lesson policies will continue to apply to all other situations. A minimum of 24-hours notice is required to qualify for a Makeup Credit. Absences and makeup lessons are scheduled on an on-going basis through the Client Portal/account. Please note that, though an absence with required notice is eligible for a makeup, due to the arrangements negotiated with our contract faculty each year, we cannot guarantee that a makeup lesson will be available due to teacher and studio scheduling and therefore we do not guarantee makeup lessons. If a student cancels (with less than 24 hours notice) or does not attend a scheduled makeup lesson, the makeup lesson cannot be rescheduled.
- Teacher Absence: If your instructor must be absent and a substitute instructor is not available for the regular lesson time, the lesson will be made up and the instructor will work with the student and the Studio to secure and schedule a suitable makeup time.
- Bigger Issues: In the event that the physical M&P Studios must be closed for any reason, we will adjust our operating procedures to reflect the current stage we must operate within and will work with all students & families to ensure, wherever possible, that their music education continues uninterrupted.
OTHER M&P POLICIES AND THINGS TO KNOW!
PAYMENTS
- Monthly tuition fees are processed on the 25th of the previous month for credit card payments and on the 1st of the month for all other payment methods. As of last year all additional payment fees have been integrated into total class fees.
- A valid method of payment is required on your account at all times following your registration at M&P. Methods of payment we accept are Visa, MasterCard, Debit (in-studio) and Post-Dated Cheques. Due to safety issues, cash is not accepted at this time.
- Fees will be prorated (based on the lessons remaining) for any lessons/registrations that begin partway through a month and regular monthly rates will then commence on the first day of the following month.
- Students may book additional lessons at their same per-lesson cost.
- A non-refundable annual registration fee of $36.00 per student / maximum $72 per family is due and paid at the time of registration.
- Students registered in additional full-year Group Classes or Private Lessons receive 10% off the 2nd full year registration, and 20% on the 3rd full year registration. Discounts will be reflected in the tuition amounts posted to your online account.
- Seniors (aged 60+) are eligible for a 10% discount on books and tuition.
- M&P is pleased to offer the purchase of books both on-site and online.
LESSON/PROGRAM WITHDRAWALS
- Once a student has been registered for a private lesson, it is the expectation that they will complete the whole year except for exceptional circumstances (e.g. moving, extended illness). Please keep in mind that it can take a few weeks for your child to get into the ‘swing’ of lessons and practicing – just as returning to school each year requires time for your child to get (re)acquainted with the rules and surroundings.
- If you perceive any challenges, please discuss the situation with the instructor privately to see how – together – we can make lessons an enjoyable and rewarding experience. A trial lesson with a different teacher could also be arranged.
- Between September and May, should changes to the teaching approach or to a new teacher still not provide a good fit, AND should you wish to withdraw, please note that four-lesson weeks written notice is required for withdrawal and registration fees are non-refundable. Also please note, non-attendance does not constitute notice of/or withdrawal and four-lesson weeks refers to and means four teaching weeks – NOT four calendar weeks. If a withdrawal is required, we do hope that students will continue attending their lessons up to and including the final lesson date.
- No refunds will be issued for private lessons cancelled after May 1 for the remainder of the school year.
- M&P group programs have individualized withdrawal policies. Please review the specific Program policies provided at time of enrollment for more details.
